Ribbon Cutting at Chubby's Chicken Fingers & More
by Chamber News on June 17th, 2014

Chubby’s Chicken Fingers and More had its ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, June 13, followed by a tasting for all who attended. Rob Nix, the manager of the new location on Baytree Road, was pleased with the turnout and considered the event a success. He and his employees are looking forward to serving the Valdosta Community when Chubby’s Chicken Fingers opens on Wednesday, June 18.
Chubby’s Chicken Fingers was first established in Tallahassee, Florida after Nix noticed another restaurant’s booming chicken business. “Guthrie’s was selling simple chicken boxes and their business was booming,” said Nix. “We saw an opportunity to open a late night drive-thru and went for it.” 15 years later, Chubby’s Chicken Fingers is still serving the night life, but they’re bringing it right to VSU’s home turf. “Our business is pretty seasonal,” said Nix. “Summers are slower but when school is in, we cater to students by offering tailgating and catering packages. “ The business’s operating hours from 10am to 3am are another aspect that Nix believes have made his business a success and will continue to do so at this new location which is right next to Remerton, the area’s hub for night life.
Aside from the business’s late hours, Chubby’s Chicken Fingers is also known for its original recipes, sauces, special frying methods, large chicken wings and “chops,” a dish of chopped chicken slathered in sauce and laid over a bed of yellow rice. “Chops were a customer favorite in Tallahasee,” said Nix of the fan favorite. “But for those who are watching what they eat or don’t like fried food, we offer other options as well.” In addition to chicken fingers, Chubby’s also serves grilled chicken, wraps, salads and sandwiches – all chicken, of course. “We don’t do burgers or hot dogs; we’re a chicken place!” said Nix.
