Chamber Leaders Gather for 101st Annual Planning Meeting

The Chamber Board of Directors, committee chairmen and Chamber staff spent an afternoon at the Country Inn and Suites holding the 101st Annual Planning Meeting this past Tuesday, January 22nd. Chamber leaders summarized the progress made in 2012, as well as presented plans for the Chamber seven work divisions in 2013.

2013 Chairman of the Board, Jay Prince of Prince Automotive, emphasized to Board members that the Chamber's membership is primarily small businesses. Also, maintaining the Chamber's Accreditation at the 5-star level by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is one of Prince's primary goals.

This year's meeting featured several highlights for 2012. The "Top 15" highlights were:

1. 497 clients assisted in the SEEDS Business Resource Center
2. Supervisor Essentials Workshops were held for 107 supervisors
3. DRUGS DON'T WORK provided training for 239 members in 8 countries
4. DDW also saved employers $250,000 in Workers Comp premiums
5. The Chamber had 256 new members this year
6. 54 Ribbon Cuttings and 4 Groundbreakings were held this year
7. Hosted 8 Business After Hours
8. 384 members now have Traffic Catcher Websites
9. Annual Washington, DC Fly-In
10. Annual Economic Summit
11. Annual Business Outlook Breakfast, presented by Wiregrass Georgia Technical College
12. Over 500 MetroOne young professionals
13. $15,000 awarded in the Guardian Bank Business Plan Competition
14. $6,000 awarded in the World Class Employee Recognition Program
15. 350 attended the Chamber Choice Awards
