Chamber leaders honored at Centennial Luncheon

by Chamber News on June 19th, 2012

It was a time to remember as top Chamber leaders were recognized at the Centennial Luncheon for their accomplishments and impact on the community. The lunch, sponsored by Georgia Power Company and Covington’s Dining & Catering, featured a presentation of the past 100 years of the Chamber detailing significant accomplishments.

Former Chamber Executive Vice President Johnny B. Lastinger received an enthusiastic and extended standing ovation after photos encapsulating his 23 years of service to the Chamber were displayed.  “Although it has been nearly 20 years since Johnny B left the chamber profession, he is still recognized in statewide chamber circles as one of Georgia’s all-time top chamber executives,” said Chamber president Myrna Ballard. “We are very proud to pay Johnny B this small and long overdue tribute.”

After viewing the presentation, it was clear that the luxuries and status the community enjoys today didn’t just happen, but was a direct result of powerful leadership.

Terri Lupo (Georgia Power Company) announced that a tree will be planted at the Chamber of Commerce house in honor of the past Chairmen of the Board as part of the year-long Centennial Tree Project.

Look for more information from this special event and the video presentation in next Monday’s Chamber in Motion.
