MetroOne provides growth opportunities for young professionals
by Chamber News on June 4th, 2012

Networking and professional development are key aspects to MetroOne’s Young Professionals Group. Last month the group hosted various events to provide these opportunities for growth.

A Metro Mixer hosted at the Green Iguana Mexican Bistro provided a networking platform and the opportunity for attendees to convene with other young, active, civic-minded professionals. Members have a clear vision of Metro Valdosta’s future as a great place to live, work and play, encouraging college and university graduates to remain here to begin their careers.
Professional development is another key component of MetroOne. Young Professionals recently had the opportunity to explore the Arts as a group toured the Peach State Summer Theatre (PSST). Attendees learned firsthand what happens behind the scenes with stage production and gained insight on auditioning, rehearsing, gathering and creating props, costume design and much more.

Jacqueline Wheeler, Professor of Theatre and Artistic Director of Peach State Summer Theatre and H. Duke Guthrie, Associate Professor of Art & Theatre (Valdosta State University) facilitated the tour.  Attendees participated in a meet and greet lunch with cast members and received a sneak peak of upcoming productions with live performances.
