Chamber recognizes National Small Business Week
by Chamber News on May 17th, 2012

May 20-26 is National Small Business Week and a time to celebrate entrepreneurs and small business owners as they are often considered the backbone to the U.S. economy.

With 99 percent of Chamber members considered small businesses, the Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber is hosting activities and events designed to honor and empower small business leaders during this special week.

Monday
The events kick off with an open invitation to join Valdosta Networking Professionals and Professionals Building Relationships. These two groups are great for networking or building new relationships among small businesses. VNP meets at Azalea’s Restaurant and PBR meets at Hilton Garden Inn, both from noon-1 p.m.

Tuesday
There will be a Lunch and Learn session titled Network Security for the 21st Century. The session will cover cyber-security, network security and the proliferation of cellular devices in business networks. The Lunch and Learn will be held at the Chamber offices and registration is required.

Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m. at the Historic Courthouse, the Chamber will announce one downtown business to "cash mob."  Those attending the announcement are encouraged to "mob" the business by making a $20 purchase as soon as the business name is announced. For more information click here.

Thursday
The 2012 Chamber Small Business Breakfast is from 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at Hilton Garden Inn and will feature three speakers from area businesses. Registration is required.

On Thursday evening, the first course in the Dale Carnegie Training® – titled The Process for Success – will be offered free of charge at the Comfort Suites on St. Augustine Road.  Registration is encouraged.

Friday
The Chamber will present Azalea Health Innovations with its U.S. Chamber Blue Ribbon Award at Sam’s Club at 9:30 a.m. The annual award was given in 2012 to 75 small businesses nationwide in recognition of excellent business practices, job creation and contributions to their communities.

To cap off the week, participants in these activities will be eligible to win a Sam’s Club gift card. Submit your business card at each event to be entered into the drawing.
